Gabriella

Gabriella

A Poem by scarlynn
"

You aren't gone, you're missing, and I'm going to find you.

"
I looked under the bridge like you'd be there
with the autumn leaves,
dressed in silver tulle,
swirling around in the shallow water,

little fingernails and
straight chestnut hair,
staring at me,
giggling instead of gurgling-

but you weren't there.
I must have cast the wrong spell
under the pale full moon,
message sent, not delivered.

I promised someone else
that I'd never stop trying,
but I like to think
I'd promised you the same thing, because

When I listen to beautiful music
I listen so that you can hear too
I dance so that you can dance too
I check for your silhouette beside me

and sometimes it feels like you're hugging me back.
I knew it, that day in July,
four years in advance
something I thought I'd never know again.

Where is she?
Where is she...
