Power Trip

Power Trip

A Poem by scarlynn

I murdered you
in my sleep last night
and it echoed in my head all day -
your torn, bloody grin
looked just like mine.

A cult of myself.
A flurry of another episode
drilling holes with my pen,
carving the same three words into
the only space I can breathe.

I've ruined the moon for everyone
since it's all I want to see
and the tides are drowning
my old grudges -
I don't say goodbye back to you.

-- for me, this is an emotionally brutal experience articulated in exceptionally expressive poetry... -- it's reactive and yet infinitely poetic... much like human beings... -- fantastic stuff...

This is the kind of hate that exists in each one of our cells. The kind that makes you question your own ability to not disintegrate.

"Drilling holes with my pen" is a nice image. Not nice, I guess. Conveys the anger of the piece without being too on the nose about it.
