Rock a Bye

Rock a Bye

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison

What dreams may come

to soft bare eyelids

as they blameless slumber

swiftly

with no warning

biting at your heels

and digging into

pink new flesh

what dreams may come

with black smoke wisps

to still the beating heart

of June

unweaving, unraveling

this tight knit thing

this sacred thing

what dreams may come

that teeter stalwart,

weathered guards

to toss a cradled bundle

from its nest

what dreams, what dreams

what dreams
