Babylon's Folly

Babylon's Folly

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison

Spiraling inward, this big bang Fibonacci god-

taking apart the fine petals of creation

( heads swimming with the patterned leaves,

their secret tremors, belly dancer's finger cymbals)

and peek underneath, dissect each numeral, rub

the hummus glue across our palm and let it dry, peel

the skin from the veins, leaving only the bones, soak

them in Archimede's waters, measuring the volume of

stars swept up in spiraling creation, black holes

in reverse and build it back from dust, splitting

atoms into death, toddlers teetering towards towers

of Babel, charring and swallowing humans whole.
