Comes the Dawn

Comes the Dawn

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison

I walk softly on the earth,

don't let my footsteps echo too loud,

tiptoeing,

chewing softly, so as not to intrude.

Seeing how short my years are,

how soon my footsteps will recede into

the distance,

I should rather walk

boldly,

walk loudly,

walk to make an

imprint,

my words echoing for

miles, so

someone can incline

their ear,

pick up my cadence,

feel

my spirit

as it leaves my body.

I better not wait

too long--

breath only lasts a moment

then it's gone.

Eternity is a loud bellow

that you join

in the moments before

dawn-

awakens to a new day

without you.

I love this I see a possible typo in the first stanza (left vs let) but I read your soul, not your text, so I know what you mean, what you feel.

I especially like ...

I better not wait
too long--
breath only lasts a moment
then it's gone.

At a certain point in our lives this reality strikes us. Until then, we have this silly feeling of immortality that allows us to say, "I'll do it tomorrow."
