Ante Lucem

Ante Lucem

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison
"

Before daybreak...

"
Dew keeps vigil
over slumbering
arbor kings.
Skyward they lay
in heavy robes
of emerald.

Tassels lightly sway.
Misty breath mingles,
pale in grey.

All is still now.

Dark wolf pads silent,
crouching in noble's shade
waiting.

Forest holds its breath
lucid dreaming.
Ancient groves hush
with fledgling buds,

to see
what new thing comes.

Title your work in Latin, even if it's a dirty limerick, and I'll swoon every time. This poem gives the grace of dawn in excellent description. It silences the world around the reader while the words come as whispered breath. One typo found: "nobles shade" is missing an apostrophe. :)

I can't stand writing poetry, but I do so often. It comest to me like Tourettes stuck in my gut until I let it out. Each time it does, the feeling plays like a mental short film with eyes closed.

So that is the only way I know how to read other's poetry. I liked your little short film. It was done in black/white with only the wolf prints shown in blue. At least that's what I saw when I closed my eyes.

Nice read.

This was great! It's so true...silence waiting for the event. Very good!

Your poetically structured, figurative language, encapsulates and conjures up those images in nature, just before daybreak.

A beautiful read!

I love nature poems, Misty, and this is lovely, especially the first two stanzas.

You touch nature with a sensitive brush stroke and paint it's image with pure beauty. I can see the view in your mind's eye. I revel in the peaceful setting, where even the wolf lays in calm waiting. Even if it is preparing for the hunt, it's poise and quietness adds to the splendor around it.
Great work

kris, what a sense of renewel surrounding
the ambience of the projected meaning,
beautiful and sensitive to understanding,
the metaphorical measure is spelendid and
really captures the essence of the moment,
a wonderful, lovely read, peace, mike

Ancient awaiting the new - such a great image and mood you create. The lush forest anticipating progress of some sort, something modern...but does it see the steal and oil, smog and slow death of common curtesy among citizens...it seems so peaceful in the past and in dreams..I like that you allow us to linger - there.
