Idolatry

Idolatry

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison

This idol
in whose shadow
I tremble
a god so
large, my soul
is consumed
ablaze in its light

I tried to
not love you
like this
to stand alone
to fight for sanity
but you are too great
a power to resist

who can fault me
for bowing to this
thing we created
for needing this precious
heart shaped amethyst
to hold against the night

who would not, fall from heaven
to touch, this hot dark thing
this burning wet thing
this tender soft pliable thing
this solid merciful thing

you make me feel
alive
and the fear of losing you
is just short
of too much

Interesting response! Thank you Delaney!
it's all about touch, feel, love...

and yes, who can blame you if you feel that towards someone...as long as you don't lose yourself completely in them.

next to last stanza is an interesting blend of images.

I feel incredibly blessed. But writing about love is really hard, too much feeling, not enough word.. read more
ablaze its light - just feels not quite right...
amethist?

You held me here wanting to follow your word steps til the final pause and fade to black.
You expressed things my mind understood ...things others leave unspoken.

So many try so hard to touch behind their eyes that they miss what is in front of them.
