elm city

elm city

A Poem by misterfebus

willow
pillow
daffodillio
me never spoke in slang  of
"what's goin on yo?"

but came from that place
of one parent raised welfare phase,
where the things you ate
came on a paper plate

Velveeta cheese, dry carnation milk
please, what a squeeze that bright red box
and oh yeah - snap, crackle, and pop!
start your day right in the land of blacktop

nothin wrong with that there slang
when tryin some fun way, make-it
or break-it, to voice opinion or rage
living barely on one woman's wage

where the elm tree's willow
as the shadow of branches
reflect on my head and pillow,
dreaming of cracking blacktop sprouting daffodillio,
never say never.
