Never Alone

Never Alone

A Poem by Missy Weekes

“Never Alone”

Once again she cannot sleep

She can do nothing but cry and weep

Her mind continues to scream at her

She just wishes she could find a cure

She knows nothing but this pain

And she knows she has nothing to gain

She knows she has lost the war

As she lay cold on the bathroom floor

Terrified of what her parents may think

She quickly runs to turn on the bathroom sink

It is becoming too hard to hide

She hates the way she feels inside

She is running out of excuses

For the reason behind her bruises

She is afraid that her scars

Will land her behind bars

She is scared of herself at night

For there is no light

She felt as though she meant the least

She wanted nothing more than to be deceased

Every night her head pounded

For all of her thoughts made her feel surrounded

She try harder and harder each night

But her mind continues to give her quite the fright

But she knows no matter how hard she try

She could do nothing but think about all the reason to cry

She thinks of ways she can get better

But she knows that her head may never let her

She knows that she is never alone

For her demons are very well known

She finally gets to fall asleep

Only with the knowledge that her thoughts will continue to make her weep

It's sad and I can connect with the feelings pretty well. I have experienced those days and nights surrounded by demons where I had plenty of reasons to cry but not a single reason to smile... The darkness of life can be so devastating that it can take away all light from life for a long time... The ending is gripping, leaves the reader with something to think...

Sincerely

Dark, painful, and heart wrenching. In other words: poetry from the soul. I can't say that I understand your particular pain, but as a poet I realize that your words are your testament to being. Please read my poem: Blood on the Page
Hopefully then you'll know that you're not alone, and take solace from knowing that the pain of your written words actually help others who need to know that kindred spirits are out there. I can only speak for myself when I say that writing poetry was the exorcist I used to banish my demons. I sincerely wish you freedom from yours.
