Lover's Love

Lover's Love

A Poem by Tricia Lynn

Even as you hold me near

My heart tells me I shouldn’t be here

Tremble as I may to your soft touch

Sends the blood to my head in a rush

Be it as it may, what is done is done

Tomorrow is another day bringing bright sun

A sudden glance from across the room

To steal a kiss in cornered gloom

A sudden smile only you observe

Secrets we share that no one else will learn

Arms wrapped tight when there is no one to see

Lover’s love quells the deepest misery

True that fate has brought us to this place

But will only last in this moment of time and space

Surrendered to me is your heart

As mine to you as you have sought

Quenched is the thirst that brought you to me

Never again will I see stars as bright as these

As moments pass you slip away

Don’t ever forget these feelings will stay

A part of our lives separate and together

A line of safety and trust has been tethered

You know me well enough to react

For sensing emotions you have a knack

Capable of seeing through to my soul

How well you are able play the role

This lover’s love was meant to please

But once we part all will cease

Although we will forever remember our time

Act upon them not to restore moments sublime
