For the Love of Our Country

For the Love of Our Country

A Poem by Tricia Lynn
"

Some people do not understand what we, as soldiers, go through........

"

Leaving Iraq, soon I will be

Once again united with my family
Leaving behind a certain war
Through the Brigade, a hole it tore
Friends and companions, we had soldiers lost
Never to be forgotten, they paid the ultimate cost
On the road many have died
For the greater fight to keep this country alive
And in the defense of our mother homeland
It is all for the US of A in the end
For the love of our country we are here
Enduring the pain and shedding the tears
We are not just fighting someone else’s fight
It is not just about proving who is right
Many people say we need to leave this place
Pull out and give in without haste
But what they don’t see is the good we have done
The building of schools, roads and a better future to come
No matter how hard it may seem
We are needed here to the utmost extreme
A great sacrifice for the even greater good
The pros out weigh the cons ten to one
From the ground up, we are rebuilding Iraq
For helping those less fortunate, we have a knack
Training their soldiers, police and politicians
Once they have learned, we can leave with submission
Until that day comes, we must uphold our duty
As an American Soldier for the love of our country
