The Chosen Path

The Chosen Path

A Poem by VictoriaSin

Paths throughout life seem unrelenting

Even painful and cruel

Pointing us in the wrong direction at times

Often, this is the road we choose.

Not realizing of the trouble which lies ahead

Ignorant of the pain

Ignorant of the fear

Not knowing how to escape, still we persevere.

Falling upon unforeseen obstacles

Which soon will turn to regrets

Turning back no longer an option

This path we have chosen must be followed to the end.

In the distance, foreseeing the final steps towards the end

Now having conquered our demons deep from within

Our qualities still remain intact

We have now acquired the knowledge of how to react.

The quest long, the path brutal

But the lessons learned will never become futile.

To redeem ourself is our strongest tool

When we are faced yet again

Of which path to choose.

This is a powerful poem. I like the air of perseverance and daring that it creates for the persona. The persona is describing the road of life, and s/he is very realistic: like how people sometimes just much on paths of life that they aren't sure of but they have to go anyways; whether it was the right path or not they will find out when they get there.I see the themes of freedom to chose and taking responsibility of our choices.

And one other thing that I like about this poem is that all the stanza have a tone uncertainty, but in the last stanza, there is a resolution and the persona comes to learn in as much as the path of life may not be predictable but the lessons will be worth it. I like how it ends, nice poem, keep them coming
