In Your Head

what thoughts cross over your mind
this dark and stormy night
do the rains bring you worry
fear or hope
or wash all of it away
you are still an empty slate to me
the writing is invisible at the most
i try to read you but can't
not yet
and it makes me wonder what is there
and what is not
and perhaps i wonder most simply because
there is so much in my own head
at this very moment
so much i can hardly keep it straight
are you sharing the burden with me
