My Heart

The best poem that I think I have ever written.

My heart beats once, beats twice

Beats all of the day for you

Every breath I take

Is simply done in lieu

Each day, every day

Waiting all the while

For you to gaze into my eyes

And deliver your sensuous smile

Those eyes so sweet, so deep

My heart can not compare

And does not even try

Yet, just sits still to linger there

Thinking of your soft gentle touch

My heart begins to pound out of control

It is in this moment I surrender

That you have touched the very depths of my soul

In the distance, I hear your voice

And my heart begins to race

I eagerly await for you

Contemplating your warm and loving embrace

As I sit here in the silence

Time stands still within this room

As I look all around me

Everything else seems to loom

And then I begin to realize

That it was not your voice but only mine

With bits and pieces of wishes and dreams of true love

That I keep with me all of the time

Oh, the loneliness and sadness I feel

That gets stronger each and every day

But the pain is not, in knowing that you are only a dream

It is in knowing, that you are out there, somewhere, and exist in every way
