The Midnight VortexA Poem by Michelle AnselmSomething a little darker, for a change.Just shut your eyes and kiss me goodbye; the bells will toll and the crows will fly. Shadows slither forward towards the Light, enveloping its glow it sultry Night.
Feel the chill of Absence closing in as hands of Darkness glide over your skin. It has you now - a captive in your soul. The world behind your eyes, as black as coal.
Swirling tendrils, shrouding all that's real, bringing Doubt to what you think and feel. Do not fear the Shadows that surround for only in the Night shall you be bound.
As golden rays break free into the Dawn the burning Stars have now all fled and gone. But though the Shadows too leave with the Night, they'll soon be back when Light must leave our sight
once more. © 2008 Michelle AnselmAuthor's Note
