The Midnight Vortex

The Midnight Vortex

A Poem by Michelle Anselm
"

Something a little darker, for a change.

"

Just shut your eyes and kiss me goodbye;

the bells will toll and the crows will fly.

Shadows slither forward towards the Light,

enveloping its glow it sultry Night.

Feel the chill of Absence closing in

as hands of Darkness glide over your skin.

It has you now - a captive in your soul.

The world behind your eyes, as black as coal.

Swirling tendrils, shrouding all that's real,

bringing Doubt to what you think and feel.

Do not fear the Shadows that surround

for only in the Night shall you be bound.

As golden rays break free into the Dawn

the burning Stars have now all fled and gone.

But though the Shadows too leave with the Night,

they'll soon be back when Light must leave our sight

once more.

The first line is essentially a lyric from My Chemical Romance's song "Sleep" (The Black Parade). This was written December of last year.

I like it, you're so good. nice flow and tempo. try stretching out with your poems, something outside your passions and emotions, something funny, something sad, something odd, something mad. Don't let your ideas go to bad, bring out the banners and let them parade.

p.s. I think I just reviewed this poem twice, I guess I do like it!

Beautiful , lyrical and powerful. The fabric of life and essence of your soul radiate throughout this magnificent rendering. Its words like these that inspire the hearts of poets. You have created something passionate and personal. I am proud of you.

Bravo!

"You must know me for who I am.
I am Hunger and I am damned!"

Not to bad a piece overall. I would like to see you get a bit darker with it and perhaps lose the rhyming so you won't be so confined with your imagination. Let it fly. Slip the bonds and scribe away.

Absolutely loved it! This was written expressing the very essence of night. And I wouldn't consider it dark at all, rather more enlightening, possibly just dim (pardon my corn humor).
