A Poem by hanzabonanza

when you lay dreaming

of milk

the atoms still multiplying

from your core

I knew we had met before

in another life

you would be

a bold and strong boy

I told them

no doubts or uncertainty

bursting from my words

before you said your

first words

we spoke in dreams

already familiar

in each other’s skin

your voice like music

all this confirmed

holding you in my arms

for the first time

your name on the tip

of my tongue

before they told me

a long lost friend

the face familiar

the memories faded

I seemed to know you

in an instant

more than I had ever known

myself all these years

and yet now

we cannot even conceive

of life before you

or comprehend the unreality

of your soul’s emergence

you have changed us

so profoundly

I do not want to go back

to who I was before

and we sang:

you are my sunshine, my only sunshine

you make me happy when skies are gray

you'll never know dear, how much I love you

please don't take my sunshine away

as you fell asleep in your pram
