lupineA Poem by hanzabonanzashe told me to put my hair down to be lost in the dark curls and I thought of an other woman saying the same thing months before except now, the lust was not played out and was left hanging awkwardly in the air after inhabiting my life for so many years suddenly my vision of her changed an object of desire not affection fascinated by those delicate wrists occasionally my hand bold enough to brush past lingeringly she had never been more beautiful I decided, than in these winter years as she so boldly put it and I laughed- more like autumn attempting to somehow condone these clandestine feelings a lone wolf solitary but content which I so desperately longed to tame sharing with her all I had learned if she would just let me in her grey eyes seemed to say yes we looked at old photos in my room hiding my baby ones which to her seemed like yesterday both avoiding gazing at the bed instead standing silent by the window and looked at the moonlit garden hips just touching at dinner my parents filled the silences so we didn’t have to worry but still the charged glances and knowing smiles wolf eyes glowing keeping hands and feet out of reach then came the goodbye but we held each other too long betraying emotions to the other her soft lips stroking my cheek and whispered soon © 2011 hanzabonanza |
