ebb and flow

ebb and flow

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I decide that the sea is a woman

as we embrace each other at midnight

her undulating waves, fingers

that reach out caressing my naked body

as I shiver with pleasure

like new lovers do

we are discovering our boundaries

which we cross tentatively

the first was easy

clothes discarded at her water’s edge

as it’s early days in our courtship

I’m aware not to overstep the line

and face her wrath

over be drawn into her wonder

too deep and lose myself

I chuckle at Trident

King of the Sea

a solitarily man

trying to rule and control

an immense woman as she

tonight our romancing goes well

and I reluctantly remove myself

from her cold hold

I thank her for not stealing my clothes

but her reply is drowned out by the waves

I return next morning

jealously staking out the competition

and there she is

already embracing other lovers

her tides sweeping out of my reach

so I walk home

turning my back on her watery charms

but knowing I will return

the next night and the next

as constant as her changing currents
