chip off the old block

chip off the old block

A Poem by hanzabonanza

it is difficult to tell

whether the glass is the mirror

or the photo

that stands in front of me

a strong confident nose

with dark almond eyes

framed with long lashes

and black eyebrows

high cheekbones like a woman’s

and soft lips, the bottom heavier

than the other

even the hair curly too

if I relax my eyes slightly

I can see two people at once

the man becoming woman

woman becoming man

it seems forty years

could not change a blood-tie

but only make it stronger

sometimes I forget

it is my father staring out at me

and believe it is myself

trapped in another life

I like what you have done here, conveying emotion with a powerful technique
imagery of image reflection through the lens of photo glass. Great writing
