A Poem by hanzabonanza

pull fingers down

cold wet face

the tips leaving marks

that fade behind

red. pink. white skin

disappearing into darkness

like plane lines

in the night sky

some wounds cannot

ever be healed

but I tried and tried

but seemed somehow

to make the hole bigger

almost broke my neck

like lily bending in the wind

peering at all the other women

and one particular man

but forgetting that one

lying close confused at hand

you refused to conform

when finally giving you attention

you squirmed and wriggled

I, too changed to recognize

screaming at the stranger

I had become

could we turn back time

to the first moment

in tentative innocence

before hurt and silence

sounded their death knell

wanting you so much

trying to learn emotion first

before sexual adventure

friendship and eternity

over transience

and exciting ecstasy

that wanes like the moon

you ask all the right questions

that probe my soul

putting me in difficult corners

deserving this difficult trial

signing my life in blood

promising to be better

never asking

what happens

if I break your conditions

so love me

and make me new again

a shiny new heart

ready to beat

and hands to hold

take care of me

and I’ll take care of you

this time

we’ll really take it slow
