cold shoulderA Poem by hanzabonanzaas I walk home in the fading light the sky is bleeding crimson drops that spread through the air the sun gripping the horizon tears a hole through the day painfully beautiful the fiery strokes of colour reflect on and on in layers of snow covered hills which I peel away with my eyes finally our world is reduced to a december dreamscape the perfect picture postcard of a thousand winter images I longed for as a child but now adulthood has seized me a rude reminder pulled at the neck with responsibilities and decisions that I cannot face the chance to make one hours before has slipped through my fingers like the melting snow underneath is revealed the hurt I am still causing and the two that I am lying to both her and myself perhaps my tongue froze like my icy heart with no fire like in the sky to melt my fears into courage this wintery weather was unpredictable, unplanned a random event just like our beginning but as the red fades to black I promise myself to give our ending meaning and find sense in this chaos without freezing you out or burning your heart © 2010 hanzabonanza |
