in time's absenceA Poem by hanzabonanzamaking your tea in the kitchen I almost fall over. In a daze the world swims before me and I touch the skin on my neck, face, lips where you left a mark only I can see reminding me this is real who is this beautiful creature lying, waiting in the bed for me some sort of heavenly gift I don’t deserve there was only before, and then you. I don’t remember the first things we said but thought you seemed familiar a distant dream not knowing how we crossed that sacred border from cheek to lips but we made it in a breath one moment and for the first few embraces I cannot stop shaking learning what it is to live taking the first breathes opening my new eyes so wonderful the way your hand fits mine and how our bodies lie together like it had never been any different everyone else pales in insignificance every other attraction experience, adoration is meaningless when your face is in my hands, your soft arms around my hips and your eyes are splintering apart the darkness of my room © 2010 hanzabonanza |
