Rosetta

A Poem by hanzabonanza
"

written during I went to a poetry credo/manifesto workshop.

"

I must learn to inhabit the page

for it is the one place I can truly be myself

no holding back with words unsaid

as if bound and gagged by unrequited love

clinging to body language desperately.

instead create poetry

that is a conversation with my soul

and when launched into the dark void

with stars that burst and crackle

lays me truly naked

however painful or unsavoury

I mustn’t look away

pick words that cut as close

to the surface as possible

that like sharp claws

seek to grasp at the quiver in my heart

trying to understand why my stomach churns

and head spins the way it does

I must write to be free

smashing my restraint letter by letter

word by word

page by page

and keep on writing

trying to make my pen

finally catch that undefinable emotion

that sneaks round the corner

always just out of reach

you've done just that within the beautifully complex body of this faceted poetic gem~ construction is flawless~ delivery like silk and clear~ each word a pearl of its own strung with poignant affect~
