Pleasure's Pursuit

Pleasure's Pursuit

A Poem by hanzabonanza

she didn’t know why

it was happening again

why blindfolded and upside-down

she descended into the well

tied to a frayed rope

made of deceit

the well’s walls slick with lust

there was no light there

too deep to see

the circle of daylight

her breath the only sound

it was delicious

traversing the sinful dark

the air rushing as she fell

burning her cheeks

the deeper she went

the more excited she became

what awaited her at the bottom?

that bucket in her hot hands

so lonely without water

in that dark place

she somehow lost

a part of herself

dead forever

too ecstatic to notice

when the joy had peaked

like the sun at the top of the sky

she hit it

cold, inky black water

enveloping her in shame

clogging up her lungs

burning her eyes

making her gasp for air

she screamed

the only answer- her echo

hands tearing madly

at emptiness

it was then she realised

her rope had snapped clean

no way back

no way out

as the air was sucked out

from the vacuum her soul left behind
