The Benefits of Volcanoes

The Benefits of Volcanoes

A Poem by hanzabonanza

When the ash came

The sky cleared

To a violent electric blue.

No airplane lines

To scar its perfection

The world forced to pause

Reflect.

The April air was heavy

With falling blossom

All around

My garden now a haven

Of leaves, buds, life

Only the birds singing

Stirred the silence

A moment in time

Never to be repeated

But I savored not lamented.

My lips sweet from lemonade

Drew into a smile
