Laughter and Tears

Laughter and Tears

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I made you laugh today

Til tears ran and belly ached

Your glistening eyes glowed

And skin shone radiant

You threw your head in joy

I bowed mine in adoration

You made me laugh today

The shiver of your mouth

Sent me quivering

That dangerous look

Sent me smouldering,

Burning within.

We laughed forever and a day

And for a second I felt alive

Your laughter was like oxygen

To my choking body

I wanted to hold you close

Make you smile for eternity

The laughter now melts away

I run after, chasing the echoes

I cannot face that I am alone

And that “us” can never happen

My tears now are cold

It is you who has the last laugh

There is such a depth of emotion you share here... the joy and sorrows shared between two people... and the longing that will go unfulfilled. The last lines are overwhelmingly sad... Powerful, vivid words.
