A Moment

A Moment

A Poem by hanzabonanza
"

Under the pen-name Alexander Virakov

"

We are in the cupboard

Is the door locked?

Your watch breaks the silence

Tick, tock, tick, tock

Darkness melts revealing

Feline eyes so bright

Your chest rises in terror

It is day not night

Half listening to outside

Nerves begin to thaw

Hands find their purpose

I’m pushed to the wall

It is violent, it is wonderful

We move with abandon

Conscience left by the door

Clothes where we dropped them

We hear a footstep and freeze

Ears turned to the sound

Pull your rapunzel hair to hide me

As the handle turns round

Soon it will be gone, destroyed

The moment long desired

As the voice calls out to us

Our world is now shattered
