Homecoming Part IIA Poem by hanzabonanzaWritten under the pen-name Mina HyattWhen she saw you
through the window It was a
bell tolling in her mind Cold, crisp, sharp:
Delightful! She could hear the
scream erupting inside her But ran before the
sound could catch up. The joy a celestial
explosion Like a star
being born in the void of space. And as she ran it
emerged as laughter Peals of chimes at
first Growing to a
belly-warming roar Her whole being
soaring just from a glance How long she had
waited The moment seemed
worth the pain Later, in that first
conversation After the famine your
absence had caused She hoped for the
salvation of words Clinging to those
sweet-bits The fell from your
mannequin mouth. Yet you seemed
detached, far away The same jokes missing
their lustre They once had Yet still she had hope
Blue Eyes So hard and cool You looked right
through her It was too much- you are hurting her now Inadequate. Pathetic.
Fake All she was and worked
for derided What had she hoped
for? Happiness after
everything that had passed? But your smile was
chipped The suave
man had exited through the wings And she was left
centre-stage, alone. © 2010 hanzabonanza |
