Tacet

Tacet

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I am a cadence
In fifths
Held in one hand
Waiting

A drone shimmering
Under the bough of
An infinite pause

One looping bar
Without time signature
Or rhythm
Waiting

I crouch in between movements
The complex first and
Mounful adagio behind

My fingers ache
From what has come before
Muscle memory
Hates to be kept waiting

Does a scherzo lie ahead
Or a fugue sit patient
Must I leave all notation
Or should I keep waiting

In the silence
There is not emptiness
But a shimmering heartbeat
Full of vibrations

Seeing patterns
Shapes and colours
Inside the wavelength like
Wishes waiting to be born

Out of the silence
They swarm and join
Creating tiny notes
Out of the mammoth chord

And suddenly the suspension
Shatters
Into a thousand humming
Quavers shaking like dawn

Feeling returns
Into both hands
Fingers dancing
Up and down the board

And so begins
My new melody
Shifting key
Away out of the rafters

Like birds

a Nice write, hanza. A little rich with musical terms, but remaining palatable, this was good to read. I like the visual of birds at the end: seemed to tie all the various sound waves together, as mentioned throughout the piece.

Thanks for sharing
