monsoon season

monsoon season

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I send thoughts of you

up up

like balloons

into the sky

they scratch the summer blue

and gather together

forming clouds

above me

quickly blackening

blotting out the light

gifting salty raindrops

onto my cheeks

you are the static

on my skin

squeezing my lungs

like ash

I am the sponge

drinking you up

drowning in you

over and over

still I’m soaked

through to the bone

wringing myself out

so I can think again

needing a thousand

storms to wash

away every thought

and every memory

maybe this one

is different

this storm could

extinguish your flame

so I’ll be left

shivering into the sun

blinking at the

expanse left behind

an expanse

of possibilities

warm enough

to reach my bones
