in love again

in love again

A Poem by hanzabonanza

the person in the mirror

touches at her face

and shoulders

connecting

new lines

the bone white winter

erased away

tan lines

making good

of her skin

later

her bike thundering along

the air sliding into a

thousand shades of green

she looks down at her legs

and the narrow metal frame

powering forward

the spoke turning

her heart again

as the sky above

unfolds

a table cloth

ready for when sunset

lights the candles

at dinner

she takes the bend

at a full gallop

the little bike

shaking and whinnying

feeling every bump

like a xylophone

to her bones

this is when she feels it

the swelling in the chest

a smile curling

on her lips

as she remembers the

sensation of falling

it seeps through

her tear ducts

and the world sees

and looks up

as she flies past

a steam engine

fuelled by herself

a self sufficient machine

that goes on and on

riding off into the sunset

she waves in the mirror

at her lover

and her lover waves back

they laugh

all day long about it

why hadn't I

thought of this before

they say at the same time
