back into the blue

back into the blue

A Poem by hanzabonanza

let me slip under the waves

I'm tired of your tossing and turning

my yearning and failure to learn

the truth

the burn

of the waves stings my eyes

bitter lies

I tell myself

but not to be

I'll take the three pebbles

down with me

names scratched on the back

tight in my fist

to the bottom of the sea

where I found you

let them sleep there forever

never to see sunlight

or hear your song

underneath

the deep blue

all colour fades away

and though you may scream

the water is all deafening

your mouth a gasping fish

that bubbles masking the words

which dribble from your mouth

press your ear tight to the shell

that's where you'll find me

a hermit crab

clinging to your old home

my glowing pearl gone

just a black void left behind

sometime

one time

at high tide

I will be washed up

on the sand

new and unrecognisable

and the shell will have

washed away

like a dream
