pearlescent

pearlescent

A Poem by hanzabonanza

you came into this life

in a shell

washed up

on a deserted beach

in a kiss of tender waves

I found you

one day out walking

brushing against the tips

of my toes, dozing

in the cool surf

later I took you home

tight in my curled palm

the salt drying

to crystal tears

on my skin

as I walked

I could just make out

strands of mermaids songs’

dripping from your

closed mouth

back in my room

in the safe quiet

of a blushing moon

you opened for me

a wide eyed

nucleus of surprise

each day

you drank in sunlight

so thirsty from your

old salty home

where the rays never reached

til you grew skin

which stretched over

long limbs and bone

delicate fingers

and gentle curving hips

you squeezed drops of light

out of an orange sun

so that it fell into your

hair, long and fiery

and dusted your

milky skin

when finally one day

you turned to me

bright and shining

with a rosebud mouth

that had just finishing blooming

and opened your mouth

like your shell once had

lips tipping up

towards heaven

- your other home

breathing one word: hello
