of sands and sky

of sands and sky

A Poem by hanzabonanza

I travelled a thousand miles today

in the space between

your fluttering eyelashes

floated far away to India

to Hyderabad

on top of the world

like quivering strings

the wind caresses my hair

my skin tingling in the evening air

down the path--

there you are

a wandering, dancing shadow

you and your brother laughing, smiling

the light fading sleepily

on the pearlescent city

here I am darling--

somewhere trailing behind

tracing your footprints hungrily

out of reach- I hear you both talking

your singing voices rise and fall

but I’m unable to make out the words

like the wind

I too shiver and dissolve

the memory fading like smoke

as you open your eyes

I can hear your words again

filling up my heart to the brim

they are songs of love

to last a thousand years

that we to sing to our sleeping children
