written in your smile

written in your smile

A Poem by hanzabonanza

all the walk home

carrying the letter

like a sleeping child

so precious and small

but weighty on my

heart

sit on my bed

the sheets still

smelling of you,

the letter in my hands

a sunbeam spilling

light on my

fingertips

avoid breaking your

red rose seal

devotion stamped

on our skin

see how I glow now

warming you through the

night

gather your words

in my hands

vowelled kisses

I oh and ah

as I read them

while dizzy tears

fall

reaching the end

I press my lips

to your name

so beautiful in your hand

you are the letter

here in my arms

again

after I find my pen

and paper

the devoted scribe

squeezing my heart

so that words fall

on the page

voicing all I cannot

utter
