Wants, needs and desires

I’m not a greedy soul

for the most part

but there are some things

I want

if not need

I want 

to make 

your eyelids

shimmer metallic blue

when you close them

like the sky 

overhead this morning

I also want

to swim with you

at midnight

in the sleepy ocean

not a stark cold place

when my hand 

is holding yours

after our swim

I want to wake up

with you in a warm bed

Mediterranean sun-rays 

dancing on your

sweet freckles

while your slumber on

peacefully

finally to this list

of small desires

I shall add this:

I want to dance with 

you to foreign rhythms

surrounded by unknown

faces, as you throw 

back your head and laugh

free

now my darling

whom I adore so

tell me what you want

and I shall endeavour

to give you all 

your heart’s desires
