the horses have gone aheadA Poem by hanzabonanzaI won’t wait til the tolling bell to change abandon bitterness and the shards of my personality that twist my soul I won’t wait til another year is added on the endless page of my life to stride tall strong and free from the games of others I won’t wait til tomorrow or Christmas eve when the world hushes or Christmas day as thoughts are cast inwards nor will I wait til the end of this poem or verse or line I am no longer waiting to become who I truly am I won’t wait because I’ve already left behind my awkwardness returning this winter possessing my body proud of every curve every inch not thinner just unshakeable I cannot wait to jump headfirst into my future nothing holds me back gladly at last I say this with raised voice I am no longer waiting to begin the spirals turn back in on themselves their beginning untraceable irrelevant I won’t wait for you it was I who freed myself not you unwittingly but yes, successfully I don’t care if you look back and regret I don’t care at all I waited too long and all for nothing autumn proved futile and I loathe you for taking so much out of me tarnishing our memory your scarf like a noose around my neck how long will I have to wait til your face fades like the others I’m sick of it to be honest go and find someone else to haunt I’m ready and waiting it’s time for you to go © 2012 hanzabonanza |
