no indian summer

no indian summer

A Poem by hanzabonanza

my bones miss you

limbs useless

without you to hold

I told them I was sailing

free on the open sea

well that was a lie

while you crossed today

the vast, endless gulf

I was useless, adrift

and thinking you’re gone

you come back

hitting harder than before

your perfume

hitching my brain

out of sync, fraudulent

my head thuds empty

liquor fueled

when it had rested on your lap

already the memory fades

of your breathless eyes

and sweet words

a summer breeze

which has now cruelly turned

into autumn sorrow

all of summer’s hopes

withering away

released into decay

please come back

to me again

in flesh and blood

I don't want your spiteful ghost

around here

no one else will do
