Mr. Penn, The Point Is This

Mr. Penn, The Point Is This

Sometimes I wish I knew what I could do. I do not have the motivation to go and save the world. There are children going through so much and they say they do not want to be "saved." I see more atrocities and I try to think of something I can do. I cannot do anything.
I see the Syrian children and I wish I could take one in to give him or her a home. I see the Iraqi children and I wish I could do the same thing for them. There is nothing I can do because I am not a Muslim. There is nothing I can do because I do not have any money. I don't have the resources.
I feel as though I have no voice. I feel nothing, but heart ache and fear. I am so sick of it. I am tired of turning around to see these "people" bringing harm to other human beings. It is not hard to feel melancholy about the situation. I cannot help, but to feel as though we are at fault.
I cannot prevent events from happening. I have no control over the actions of the president. I cannot control who the president supports. I vote, but either way we lose. We are either making a mess somewhere or leaving the mess behind.
Sean Penn made a statement that he watched the ISIS videos because we do not see enough of the tragedies that war brings. He made an excellent point that if someone watches them without feeling anything they are also inhumane. What stuck a nerve is the fact that he mentioned we are basically desensitized to violence. He believes that watching these videos do not glorify ISIS.
He mentioned that the violence of Vietnam was on television all of the time. Once, footage of a graphic nature were on the television sets of America. Someone had realized that we should not be showing things like this. This type of footage is offensive. This type of footage typically played when a family was sitting down to have dinner and watch the news.
I honestly think that we have seen enough violence in our own country let alone in other countries. We do not need to witness anymore violence because it needs to be stopped. We have not been desensitized because we have atrocities that happen here in America.
To be honest, many people have watched the videos that ISIS has created. I wish they would stop because I am tired of hearing about them. I am tired of their crap. There is nothing I can do about it. I have tried to avoid watching that video of the pilot they burned alive, but it happened to cross my path. Guess what happened? I watched it. I don't know why, but I did.
Videos of this nature are antagonistic. It is glorifying them because they are getting what they want. They are getting what they want by more people watching their graphic and inhumane footage. Stop giving them what they want.
My heart aches so much. I want Arabic people in my home and life because I love them that much. I fell in love with an Arabic man and there is nothing I can do about that either. It hurts so bad and there is nothing I can do to remedy that. To watch these animals attack these sweet people is even more heart wrenching.
The point we really should focus on is the fact that there are so many ignorant people here that hate Arabs with a passion. They could really care less about the Jordan man set ablaze in a cage. They could care less that the prisoners of Guantanamo were tortured in a way that makes one think that the soldiers raped them. We are having a hard enough time controlling ourselves here that the hatred cannot be controlled. Many people hate Arabs, how are we even remotely desensitized? Many people are still pissed off and uneducated about 9/11; they want to see Iraq nuked. Do you really believe that we are desensitized?
I sit here in front of this very computer looking into the Middle East because that is the only thing I can do. I cannot do anything about how I feel. I am in too much fear knowing that if I were to adopt a child, they would face the biased garbage here. I cannot go over there because I would have to succumb to the culture that the citizens have to go through.
I have decided on one thing though. As I see another report on Boko Haram using chainsaws on their victims, I felt that it is necessary not to share anymore media about these terrorists. The primary purpose for their videos, Mr. Penn, is to spread fear.
I'd hate to seem repetitive, but there is a reason why they are sharing these videos online. I think Saddam Hussein would have done the same thing had this technology been available during his reign of terror. Saddam made horrific videos and showed them to anyone to dared to defy him. He frightened everyone into submission and he succeeded.
Since they are continuing to get a plug from people like Sean Penn about watching these videos, they are going to continue to do this. This is similar to a dog being laughed at when it is doing something naughty, it will continue to do bad things. As long as this fear still exists, terrorist groups will continue to rise and murder thousands of innocent people.
