The Lady in the Mirror

The Lady in the Mirror

A Story by Martezza

"Who are you?"

I asked the lady staring back at me.

I was scared, we had the same eyes, hair…mouth. But her eyes are fierce and strong. Her hair perfectly straighten and her mouth curved into a smile-like-smirk.

"Who are you?"

I asked again. But the lady looks at me with the expression of confusion. My fear becomes stronger as I can see the glints of fear…sadness and exhaustion from the lady’s eyes. I want to asked her why but I’m shaking with the sudden burst emotion that splashed my whole system. I dropped something and the sound of a shattered glass brought me back to my senses. The lady’s gone. I looked down and saw a broken mirror. I was about to pick up the pieces when I saw those eyes again.

"I am you."

I was speechless. My body suddenly stiffen and became numb.
