Death by FlameA Poem by missjlwI lost all sense of place and time, the moment the heat reached me. It slithered serpent like up my body, warm at first. It caressed me like gentle hands, leaving tingles in its wake. It grew hotter. The caresses turned to lashes. Tentacles of heat wrapped around every part of my body. It whipped at me, taring, stripping flesh from bone. I became cold. My body shook from the pain, Each breath burned as the heat entered me, licking at my lungs. It wiggled in front of me, the promise of death. Hope left me as I took my last breath.
