Half-full, half-empty

Half-full, half-empty

A Poem by Connie
"

Being a responsible adult.

"

My glass of water is half-empty,

I’m afraid to admit, I don’t want sympathy.

I can’t breathe properly- it’s suffocating me,

I didn’t want to move- it’s draining me.

I need to be myself and be away,

Somebody please, lead the way.

I need to escape my own land,

I’m in trouble, glad you’re holding my hand.

My glass of water is half-full,

Their laughter and smile are beautiful.

Those little hands are keeping me going,

Shook my head, I ain’t stopping.

I will be there watching from afar,

Refilling my half-full and half-empty jar.

Just for now, understand, I need to unwind,

I’ll be back with stronger heart and mind.
