I Am Not Your Soldier

I Am Not Your Soldier

A Poem by missangell

I am not your soldier
Nor your slave
I am not your toy
Nor your jewel
I am not going to squeeze myself into your mould
I am not going to play your games
I am not going to lie to myself anymore
I am not going to convince others that they are wrong
Making them feel shameful for seeking the truth
I will not have them join me in an irrational fear
As the fearsome cannot walk alone
This is not a reality
It is control
It is a control that is going to destroy the very heart and soul of our society
We are not wrong about our desires
We are not mistaken by our instincts
We are human
We are worth every ounce of understanding
We are not "names" created by a fear mongering society
Being true to one's self is like having a baby
It is painful, laborious, loud, and scary...but what comes out in the end is a beautiful miracle.
