While You Were Sleeping

While You Were Sleeping

A Poem by Amy

While you were sleeping,

I snuck downstairs,

because I couldn’t sleep,

and I felt like ice cream.

While you were sleeping.

I lay there awake,

daydreaming about life,

questioning our fate.

While you were sleeping,

I cry silently to myself,

wondering if things will ever change,

or if you want to continue living a lie.

While you were sleeping,

I held my breath,

trying to ease the pain,

for all the secrets that I’ve kept.

While you were sleeping,

I said my prayers,

I know things are tough,

but I finally realized,

there’s no reason to be scared.

"While you were sleeping,

It's so f*****g true. You watch the person you love sleep so at ease, and you hold in your breath because you kept so much from them. You can't bare the pain. Wow, love that!
