Anywhere But Here

Anywhere But Here

A Poem by Amy

It’s hard fitting in,

when every body attaches a label to your name,

expecting you to be something,

when everyone around you acts the same.

This place is full of posers,

fakers, liars, and drug dealers,

then there’s the cool bunch,

the jocks, and academic achievers.

Once the day is over,

there’s always a gang that picks a fight,

putting someone else down,

it just doesn’t seem right.

You know they have a name for this sick place,

a place where people call you a fool,

because if you don’t stick around,

you’re no longer "cool".

But aren’t we all here for one purpose?

to educate ourselves?

and if this is the case,

then why has it turned into a living hell?

I’d rather be anywhere but here,

far away from this place,

somewhere, where they no longer hate me,

and don’t judge me by my face.

Wow I can really relate to this poem
I hate it when people judge you
and expect you to be just like them
No body is original anymore everyones a copy
and those are decide to be themselves are mocked
and called weird or different....Loved it ;)

i had metal in my face, and blue manic panic in my mowhawk in this place. the only one in my high school with who even knew who Dez Cadena was, and why he mattered. i was alone, and i stood up to all of them, of course i got my a*s kicked right good many times. its not about letting them know you'll take it. its about lettin them know, no matter how many times they win, that you won't. take the hell they've given you, and turn it on them. to quote a favorite poet of mine, "ride a cherry red mercedes benz into the heart of hell, and place a bet on god."

first piece of yours ive read, ill have to keep checking back.

Oh Amy this was so well done.
Especially the stereotypical names :

"This place is full of posers,

fakers, liars, and drug dealers,

then there's the cool bunch,

the jocks, and academic achievers."

I think many will relate to much of what is expressed here, you describe very well in poetic style such human dramas. Nice flow and sincerely felt.

You show the life of cliques and school very well. I too have though about this stanza.

"But aren't we all here for one purpose?
to educate ourselves?
and if this is the case,
then why has it turned into a living hell?"

This is very well written, good job!
