Stop LossA Poem by Amy
I wake up today, nothing has changed. My uniform lays over my cot, with the same blood stains from yesterday. My sergeant leader calls on us to get ready, we are leaving soon. I don’t know if I’ll make it this time, all I can do is believe. I’m here for my country, we unite together as one, with the goal of protecting our nation. We proudly carry our flag, as we march one by one, preserving our pride and dignity, as we stand strong. My helmet is tightly secured, my badges shine in the light, I carefully carry my rifle, and pray with all my might. Why can’t we create peace? Where is the love? How can we stop from harming one another? What more can be done? © 2008 AmyFeatured Review
