America's Dreams

America's Dreams

A Poem by Doug

We’re America’s failed dreams;

Working two retail jobs

While our kids are raised

By a 10 dollar an hour college student

Failing classes and late with rent.

We’ll see a Norman Rockwell painting

In a main street diner

And wonder if Budweiser or crystal meth

Killed America’s dreams.

Woah! Harsh ending! Very nice job. :) I love your poetry. My favorite line in this one is the end of your second stanza.

Good Point!!! I understand what you mean. Our dream has fallen due to lazy people in our society!

I'm saving this!!

One night while I was asleep I had the words, "Veni, Vidi, Vici" repeating in my head. All night this happened. I want to somehow use this creatively. I feel like it was a sign to use it for some s.. more..
