passing throughA Poem by Laura PaxtonThe sun sets
high, Slowing
basking the world in shadows. The lights
flicker on, And the
world is bright again.
Like stars
in the sky, The lights
of the city glow so bright And as you
pass through, the lights start to fade.
The long
black city streets Turn into
narrow country roads. The
sidewalks full of passing people, Turn into
waving fields full of blooming flowers. The sky,
brightened by the city lights, Turn to the
blue moonlight. The air
loosens and the breeze flows.
And as you
leave the city behind, The tall
buildings, stretching into the sky. The
sidewalks fill with people And the
honking horns of traffic. You escape
into the country side, Full of
trees stretching so high, Hills as far
as the eye can see. And not
until you see al around you, Do you
realize how beautiful the world really is © 2013 Laura PaxtonReviews
