i don't know where the light is so i'm just gonna go

i don't know where the light is so i'm just gonna go

A Poem by Irma Chavez

Approach madness

with caution like cat,

for the prize is my head,

as the warning of flames overlook-

void all the make up applied, even black tarnished rags self describe-

the missing

peace

of this night.

Pool of dark to slow my bones down,

prescribed thundering clouds disturb

Not the stillness of my red thorny crown;

Five opposing points reach out,

apex buried in physical ground.

And once more I come close, seeking monsters,

buried within

the dungeon of time,

barricaded by something so subtle,

as if imagined.

But I just can’t help myself, I yell back as I run,

when the feeling reveals his hideous face inside me.

Run, jump, fly

flight of the

bees, bees! Bees!

Being chased by dangerous company, ee, ee.

In my throat gather malignant squeals

like when a child while playing

kills his pet mouse;

I did wear his promise ring’s cheap imitation.

After many days locked up in my closet’s chest,

the deadly spirit had escaped

me and dragged me

unconsciously

out to seek the scent of dead men

to awaken my slumbering pain" HERE I AM!

And once more dark was turned inside out.

Catastrophe weakened my knees in a flash

as he reached up from the ground, his living disease

I had a quick chance to breath in, then I ran.
