Prison, I detest you!

Prison, I detest you!

A Poem by Poppie Mira
"

I wonder how convicts feel in prison!

"

                                   I dug my own hole

You throw me alive into it

and closed the opening with cages

I drove deeper and deeper into darkness

To the very bottom of the hopeless

You confined my soul and freedom

                          by the chains of isolation

I hide my dreams in shame

because my life is the evening shadow

                            Prison, I detest you!

It's a declarative poem where cries are quite distinctively met with desperation. There is no possible way out of defying the prison walls. I love how you begin the verse with "I dug my own hole"- the metaphorical statement which suits it beautifully. It is a great thought to give regarding the perspective of prisoners. It is unimaginable because all one can contrive from it is penitence and spiritual or perhaps physical pain. All the worse if the convict is actually innocent! In such a case, this thought elicited in your poetry comes from a writer with a special conscience. =)
